FIELD: engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in control systems of internal combustion engines. Invention discloses a device and method for controlling an engine, in which fuel vapour formed in fuel tank 41 is fed into tank 42 for capturing fuel vapour and collected therein. From tank, during actuation of engine 1, fuel vapour is fed into intake system 18 of engine. Proposed device comprises means of detecting state in which fuel vapour accumulated in fuel vapour capturing tank, during actuation of engine after heating. After filling fuel vapour capturing tank to a certain level, fuel vapour is flushed into engine intake system by reducing mechanical compression ratio by means of mechanism 2 for varying compression ratio. Also disclosed is an engine control method.

EFFECT: technical result is increased speed of blowdown of fuel vapour from tank, thus preventing penetration of fuel vapour into atmosphere.
