SUBSTANCE: this invention relates to fuel injection control for an internal combustion engine with direct injection. Internal combustion engine with direct injection is proposed, which is controlled so that the number of injections for a multi-stage injection is switched according to the working area, and a multi-stage injection is performed. Multi-stage injection divides fuel multiple times in a single combustion cycle and injects fuel. Fuel vapors formed in the fuel tank are fed to the internal combustion engine as evaporated fuel. Working area in which the number of injections for an internal combustion engine is large is controlled to be narrower, when the volume of evaporated fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine is large compared with the case when the volume of evaporated fuel is not large.

EFFECT: technical result is to perform fuel injection steadily without limiting the amount of purge.
