SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, specifically to cardiovascular surgery. Distal end of angiography catheter is inserted into a first body lumen of a patient through a guide, angiography catheter comprising: a proximal end and a distal end, lumen extending from proximal end to distal end, a distal portion comprising a longitudinally-extending radiopaque marker, an embolic filter attached to a side of catheter proximal to distal portion, wherein filter comprises a distal hole and extends proximal to distal hole to closed proximal end, an outer sheath containing embolic filter in a collapsed configuration, removing guide from lumen of catheter. When removing guide from distal portion of catheter distal section of catheter has a substantially arched shape. Catheter is positioned by imaging radiopaque marker. Outer sheath is longitudinally proximally stretched, allowing embolic filter to assume an expanded, open configuration. Distal hole, which faces distal portion of said catheter, and substantially covers body lumen, faces opposite to direction of blood flow. Said method is implemented by claimed device.

EFFECT: group of inventions increases efficiency of protection against embolism during angiography due to design features of device and features of arrangement of catheter.
