FIELD: medical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to medical devices for occluding or blocking segments of a blood vessel, which can be used to reduce bleeding from a damaged vessel, reduce blood flow to tumors and change the route of a blood path in the vascular system for other purposes. A medical device for occluding or blocking segments of a blood vessel contains a compressed hollow metal structure. The metal structure, when expanded, contains one segment having a wall with an inner surface forming a cavity and an outer surface with a hole bounded by the wall, which allows fluid to pass into the cavity, and the passage of fluid from a catheter into the cavity of the hollow metal structure leads to its expansion. The medical device is configured so that the expanded hollow metal structure and the catheter can be disconnected. The expanded hollow metal structure has sufficient rigidity to remain in an expanded state, when it is implanted into a living organism in an unclosed configuration. In accordance with the second embodiment, a medical device for occluding or blocking segments of a blood vessel contains a detachable compressed hollow metal structure, wherein the metal structure has a neck that restricts the hole.
EFFECT: inventions are simple in execution, lead to faster, controlled and complete occlusion, have a small risk of restoring blood flow in the vessel, migration of the device or other complications, and may have a reasonable price.
