FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an ammonia gas generator for producing ammonia from an ammonia precursor, a method for producing ammonia gas and use thereof in systems for treating exhaust gases. Generator comprises a catalyst unit, a mixing chamber, an injection device for introducing solution of ammonia precursor substance, outlet for ammonia gas that is generated, carrier gas inlet. Carrier gas inlet creates tangential flow of carrier gas relative to injected into solution mixing chamber. Catalyst unit comprises at least a two-part hydrolysis catalyst. First along flow part of catalyst is made in form of a heated catalyst, and second in form of non-heated catalyst. Catalyst is a hydrolysis catalyst with number of catalyst cells from 60 to 800 cells per square inch on front surface of hydrolysis catalyst.
EFFECT: simple device of generator, high degree of conversion of precursors of ammonia in ammonia gas and possibility of prolonged use without maintenance.
