SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power engineering. Disclosed is an opposed-flow steam turbine 10 having high-pressure section 12 and intermediate pressure section 14 connected by shaft 16, mid-span packing 18 surrounding shaft in a region between said sections; and steam conduit 28 extending from mid-span packing and through a shell of turbine and nozzle 32 for measuring pressure, designed for direct and continuous measurement of pressure in mid-span packing during operation of steam turbine. Also disclosed is a method of operating an opposed-flow steam turbine.
EFFECT: reliable diagnosis of characteristics of various components of turbine.
