FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: described is a selective catalytic reduction catalyst containing iron promoted 8-ring molecular sieve with small pores. Also described is a method of using said iron promoted 8-ring molecular sieves with small pores as catalysts. Catalyst contains 8-ring molecular sieve with small pores, selected from zeolites SSZ-13 and SSZ-62, promoted with more than 5 wt. % of iron, in terms of Fe2O3, based on total amount of calcined zeolite, without volatile compounds, where iron is included in the sodium form of CHA by Fe-ion exchange at a temperature of about 80 °C for approximately 2 hours at a pH of about 4.

EFFECT: catalyst has improved action at high temperatures and is effective in catalyzing selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in the presence of a reducing agent at temperatures in range between 200 °C and 600 °C.
