FIELD: security systems; transportation.

SUBSTANCE: warning system at a railway crossing includes at least one stationary radiator element together with a radiation receiver and a means of radio communication with a locomotive connected to its emergency braking system and a protecting signal nearest to the crossing. Radiator element is arranged on one side of a vehicular road of the crossing, while on the other side radiator element generates a narrow beam in x-ray range and is switched on by opening a normally closed limit switch mounted on a railway crossing gate as it is being lowered. X-ray radiation receiver is additionally equipped with a radio transmitter that is configured to transmit an emergency signal in case of unauthorized x-ray beam interruption when the radiator element is on.

EFFECT: increased safety of a railway crossing.
