FIELD: geology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to borehole gravimetric surveys and can be used to determine geology of rock thickness. Gravimetric survey data is received from each of multiple gravimetric sensors n j s , orderly grouped along the length of well bore in ground. Sensors are separated by h interval and each of them generates gravimetric survey data gj corresponding to location z j s . Model of rock thickness containing approximate geological boundaries of Nm, is generated with approximate depth z k m and number of layers in the geologic section between them is determined. Also it is suggested that each geological border is placed at location where density corresponds to selected threshold value or exceeds it, and each layer in the geologic section has thickness registered by two or more sensors n j s . Position and change in Δρ density of geological boundaries z between locations z j s and z j + 1 s is determined on the basis of gravimetric survey data gj and interval h.

EFFECT: technical result provides upgraded accuracy in determining geology of rock thickness due to elimination of errors occurring when determining device position and/or depth, as well as due to determination of true volumetric density differing from the apparent density.
