FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used in the manufacture of transformer steel containing silicon, at the stage of formation of insulating coating. Method of producing oxide electrically insulating coating on sheet silicon-containing transformer steel in the form of fayalite layer Fe2SiO4 includes heating of steel surface to the temperature of 620-640 °C in air, maintenance at the specified temperature in air for not less than 30 hours and cooling outside the furnace to ambient temperature.
EFFECT: obtaining high-quality coating without using expensive and scarce materials utilizing a wasteless and ecologically clean technology without special equipment to combine oxidation with the process of heat treatment of transformer steel.
