FIELD: biotechnology.

SUBSTANCE: present group of inventions relates to methods and system for producing fatty acid alkyl esters. Process for simultaneous or sequential transesterification/esterification of a fatty acid source with an alcohol to produce fatty acid alkyl esters comprises reacting the said fatty acid source and an alcohol and/or alcohol donor alcohol in the presence of an immobilized lipase preparation, wherein the immobilized lipase preparation comprises at least one lipase immobilized on a hydrophobic porous support. Reaction medium contains an aqueous alkaline buffer solution with pH 7-10 at a quantity of up to 5 wt% of the fatty acid source. Different version of the reaction medium contains water or an aqueous solution in the amount of up to 5 wt% of the fatty acid source. Said water and aqueous solution are tap water, sea water or water from any other natural water source or reservoir, demineralised water, chemical or enzyme purified or treated water. PH of this reaction medium is 5-10, 5-9, 6-10, 6-9 or 7-9. Proposed system for simultaneous or sequential transesterification/esterification comprises a reaction vessel, configured for reactions in the said reaction media.

EFFECT: inventions create efficient conditions for highly active and stabile lipase activity during more than 70 cycles.
