SUBSTANCE: invention relates to identification and elimination of faults in motor vehicles. Processing unit (153) receives faults codes (DTC) from motor vehicle (100) to be diagnosed. Each received fault code (DTC) connected here with unique identifier and is considered to be control generating unit (110, 130), with which vehicle (100) is already equipped and which function is at least partially implemented by means of corresponding software (SW). First data base (DB1) includes number of information elements, and some information element describes, as control unit (110, 130), which initiated this fault code (DTC), responses, when this fault code is generated. Second data base (DB2) includes data obtained directly from software (SW). Processing unit (153) is made with possibility to dynamically generate diagnostic information (PDTI) on fault in relation to certain received fault code (DTC) based on first and second data bases (DB1; DB2) content and provision of said information (PDTI) through output interface (157).
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of vehicle faults determination accuracy.
