FIELD: optical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical engineering and can be used as an element of the optical isolation or nonreciprocal polarization rotator on the Faraday effect for high power lasers. Optical isolator with monocrystalline magnetooptical element includes series-arranged on the optical axis polarizer, monocrystalline magnetooptical element mounted in a magnetic system and an analyzer. Magneto-optical element is made of material with negative optical anisotropy parameter (ξ< 0) with orientation of crystallographic axes [C*], depending on value of optical anisotropy parameter ξ of the used material.

EFFECT: technical result consists in increase of degree of isolation of an optical valve and increasing of maximum allowable for it average power of laser radiation.
