FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining the parameter of the cubic monocrystal optical anisotropy related to the symmetry class of m3m, , or 432, in which the distribution of the local degree of laser radiation depolarization passing through a cylindrical sample of a cubic monocrystal with an arbitrary known orientation of the crystallographic axes is measured. When the method is implemented, the sample is brought to a position, where the distribution of the local depolarisation degree in the sample is a "Maltese cross", the inclination angle of the "Maltese cross" is measured relative to the plane of the laser radiation polarization. The value of the optical anisotropy parameter of a cubic monocrystal is determined from the magnitude of this angle and the known orientation of the crystallographic axes of the sample.
EFFECT: development of a method for determining the value of optical anisotropy parameters in a cylindrical sample of a cubic monocrystal with an arbitrary known orientation of the crystallographic axes.
