FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to petrochemistry, concerns a method for catalytic pyrolysis of a hydrocarbon mixture C1-C4 into lower olefins C2-C4, which can be used in processes of polymerisation, alkylation and esterification. Method for catalytic pyrolysis of hydrocarbon mixture C1-C4 into lower olefins C2-C4 is carried out in a flow tubular reactor at temperature 710-830 °C. Novelty is that method is carried out in presence of pyrolytic chromium formed in form of a film coating on surface of aluminosilicate ash microspheres, at pressure close to atmospheric pressure, rate of transmission of gas mixture of 25-100 ml/min, contact time 0.67-17.0 s, values of heterogeneous factor 6.7-5.6·105 cm-1.

EFFECT: technical result from use of invention is simplification of method due to easier forming of film coating on a carrier, higher safety with high total output of olefins, such as ethylene and propylene, and reduced coke formation.
