FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to petrochemistry, particularly, to catalyst for pyrolysis of hydrocarbon mixture C1-C4 and a method for production thereof, which can be used for producing ethylene and propylene. Catalyst includes a chromium-containing component deposited on surface of hollow microspheres of aluminosilicate support, wherein chromium-containing component used is a film coating of pyrolytic chromium, formed on surface of aluminosilicate ashy microspheres used as a support. Invention also relates to a method of producing disclosed catalyst and includes formation in a flow tubular reactor of a film coating of pyrolytic chromium on surface of aluminosilicate ashy microspheres by high-temperature breakdown of vapour of a bis-arene-organochromium liquid with total content of chromium 15.5 wt% on surface aluminosilicate ashy microspheres heated to temperature 420 °C.
EFFECT: technical result is improved thermal stability of catalyst and longer operating life thereof, improved environmental friendliness of process, higher total yield of olefins, such as ethylene and propylene, reduced coke formation.
