FIELD: technological processes; metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electroplating and can be used for application of protective coating on items made of low-carbon steel, which can be operated at high temperatures. Method involves electrolysis of halide aluminium-containing melt using aluminium anode, wherein coating is applied by electrolysis of salt melt based on AlF3 with additives NaF and/or KF at temperature of 700-980 °C, current density of not less than 0.5 A/cm2 and use of aluminium melt as anode.

EFFECT: obtaining solid aluminide coating having good adhesion to steel substrate, higher content of aluminium in coating, higher heat resistance of steel items and rate of aluminising.
