SUBSTANCE: invention relates to system and method of creating formation thickness mesh for estimation of formation margins. Method, according to which create multiple polylines by crossing vertical plane with closed triangle grid at a predetermined interval of cut along axis x in the spatial framework for a closed triangle grid, besides, each of polylines contains the first point and the last point create a set of polygons connecting the first point and last point of each polyline to the corresponding vertical plane, level each polygon perpendicular to the corresponding vertical plane, create mesh, in which each node of the grid on the screen is initialized with a zero value, calculate a plurality of values of formation thickness using each arranged polygon aligned with a predetermined interval of formation thickness, and create a formation thickness mesh with the help of computer processor by assigning each formation thickness value corresponding to node of the mesh on the screen.

EFFECT: technical result is an increasing of accuracy of determining volume of the formation.
