FIELD: geophysics.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine the amount of hydrocarbon fluid contained in rock hydrocarbon-bearing bed. Rock contains organic material and porous permeable inorganic material. Proposed method comprises obtaining the data relating to chemical and kinetic properties of organic material, lithologic characteristics of rock, thickness of rock and temperature and pressure in the bed, inputting the obtained data in a computer-realized model and running that model. Model running is performed in order to: a) simulate generation of hydrocarbon fluid in rock on the basis of the input data and determining generated hydrocarbon fluid using this number, b) formation of prognostic data, c) determination of total amount of hydrocarbon fluid contained in the rock, based on these prognostic data. Also, described are a corresponding system and computer-readable medium.
