FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of converting hydroxypropionic acid, derivatives of hydroxypropionic acid or mixtures thereof into acrylic acid, derivatives of acrylic acid or mixtures thereof. For example, the method involves the following stages: a. aqueous solution containing hydroxypropionic acid, derivatives of hydroxypropionic acid or mixture thereof is prepared, wherein mentioned hydroxypropionic acid is in monomer form in the mentioned water solution; b. mentioned aqueous solution is combined with inert gas to form a mixture of aqueous solution/gas; c. mentioned mixture of aqueous solution/gas is evaporated to obtain a gaseous mixture; d. mentioned gaseous mixture is dehydrated by adding dehydration catalyst to mentioned gaseous mixture under pressure of at least 80 pound/sq. inch gauge. (0.55 MPaG) to produce mentioned acrylic acid, derivatives of acrylic acid or mixtures thereof.

EFFECT: disclosed methods are implemented with high output and selectivity and without significant conversion into undesirable products, such as acetaldehyde, propanoic acid and acetic acid.
