FIELD: energy; electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: electrochemical energy storage device relates to electrical engineering, particularly to design of an electrochemical device accumulating electric energy, and can be used in modern energy industry, for example, in systems for emergency power supply, in devices accumulating energy of regenerative braking on vehicles, as traction batteries for electric vehicles (electric cars, hybrid electric cars). Electrochemical energy storage device includes a housing, installed in it at least two carbon electrodes impregnated with an aqueous halide electrolyte, a separator placed between the electrodes and collectors. One electrode is impregnated with a concentrated aqueous solution of halogenides of elements of the first, or the second or the third group of main subgroups of the periodic system or a mixture thereof, namely a concentrated water solution and/or lithium bromide, and/or sodium bromide, and/or a mixture thereof with the concentration of not less than 38 %. Second electrode is impregnated with a concentrated aqueous solution of halogenides of elements of the second or the third group of secondary subgroups of the periodic system or mixtures thereof or an aqueous solution of zinc bromide or cadmium bromide with the concentration of 1-80 %. Separator is made from polypropylene with pore diameter of less than 0.5 mcm. Both electrodes are made from a carbon-fiber woven material.

EFFECT: design of an electrochemical energy storage device provides efficient operation in different modes owing to optimum electrochemical reactions on different electrodes at corresponding potentials by different electrolytes.
