FIELD: computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering. Video decoding method includes the step for extracting information on the size of a PCM unit from a bit stream, herewith the information on the size of the PCM unit indicates the maximum size of the PCM unit to be used by the next step of syntactic parsing the PCM header; the step of determining the maximum size of the PCM unit basing on information on the size of the PCM unit; the step of syntactic parsing the PCM header from the bit stream relative to the encoded unit, only when the size of the encoded unit is equal to or less than a certain maximum size of the PCM unit, herewith the PCM header is the information indicating whether the said encoded unit is the unit, which was encoded by means of encoding the PCM or not; the step of controlling the entropy decoding process and the PCM decoding process; the step of syntactic parsing the converted data from image prediction error data in the bit stream; and the step of the PCM decoding of the PCM image data in the bit stream.
EFFECT: technical result is maintaining low ratio of the PCM header bits number in the bit stream and support of the compressed video quality.
