SUBSTANCE: invention relates to making medical images. Method includes stages, at which: object projection data is collected; visual field with voxel grid is set in transaxial direction; maximal transaxial dimensions of object are defined; expanded visual field is formed by continuation of visual field voxel grid on one expanded area outside visual field; and collected projection data is iteratively reconstructed; determination of maximal transaxial dimensions of object includes stages, at which: voxel grid with large pitch is set in visual field, which is more than transaxial limit dimensions of object; large visual field is reconstructed to obtain presented image with large pitch, presented image with large pitch has resolution lower, than reconstructed presented image; and transaxial limit dimensions of object are determined by presented image with large pitch.

EFFECT: technical result is increased accuracy of image reconstruction.
