SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to methods of thermal treatment of particles of precipitated silicon dioxide and to compositions for oral care, containing such particles of treated precipitated silicon dioxide and tin(II) ions source. Method of improving compatibility of precipitated silicon dioxide particles with tin(II) ions contained in oral care composition is disclosed, which includes steps of: a) providing one or more particles of precipitated silicon dioxide; b) precipitated silicon dioxide particles are exposed to temperature of 850–1,050 °C during period of time to produce one or more particles of treated precipitated silicon dioxide; wherein period of time ranges from 1 to less than 5 minutes. Treated precipitated silicon dioxide for use in oral care composition is also disclosed, containing tin(II) ions source, obtained using said method, and oral care composition containing tin(II) ions source and one or more particles of treated precipitated silicon dioxide, obtained using said method.

EFFECT: application of group of inventions provides improved stability of tin(II) ions in oral care compositions containing particles of treated precipitated silicon dioxide using disclosed method, as compared to compositions containing particles of precipitated silicon dioxide, which are not exposed to temperature, provided by this method.
