FIELD: pharmacology.

SUBSTANCE: oral care gel containing a zinc-amino acid-halide complex in which an amino acid is selected from lysine or arginine is provided. It is also proposed to use a source of zinc ions together with an amino acid selected from lysine or arginine and a halide in the complex to produce the above gel and a method for inhibition of cavities formation and/or dentin sensitivity reduction, comprising application of the above gel to the teeth, followed by rinsing with water or aqueous solution sufficient to initiate zinc oxide precipitation from the gel.

EFFECT: application of the zinc-amino acid-halide complex ensures high solubility of the zinc compound in the oral care gel in combination with reduced solubility and corresponding precipitation of the zinc compound at strong dilution and, accordingly, effective delivery of zinc to the tooth surface.
