FIELD: information technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses a method and a system for handling messages. Said result is achieved by a mobile terminal which receives a message; identifies a language of received message by analysing received message; determining whether language of received message corresponds to language of mobile terminal previously set by user; determining activation of automatic translation feature; translating received message, if automatic translation feature is activated and if language of received message does not correspond to language of mobile terminal previously set by user, without user input, to user-preset language of mobile terminal through a translation server and receiving and displaying translated message.
EFFECT: technical result is implementation of automatic translation of a user message to a language unknown by user and sending translated message and reverse translation of message received in a language unknown by user.
