FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to pantographs for power supply lines of electric vehicles. Method for monitoring pantograph failure in a rail vehicle comprising a plurality of pantographs and electrical conductors from pantographs to a carriage body-side busbar, consists in that surface temperature of electrical conductor from a pantograph to carriage body-side busbar is measured. Electrical signal corresponding to said temperature is relayed to a carriage control system. Carriage control system compares temperatures of measurement points associated therewith. Failure of a pantograph is recognised by occurrence of a temperature difference between measurement points of affected pantographs and unaffected pantographs or by occurrence of a different temperature change speed at measurement points. Railway vehicle, in which pantograph failure is monitored using said method. Metal guide for rail vehicle is made in form of a pipe and has a protrusion for mounting device for determining temperature.
EFFECT: technical result consists in enabling identification of failure of pantograph of a vehicle.
