FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a high activity olefin polymerization catalyst comprising a boron-containing silica support and preparation thereof. Catalyst comprising a boron-containing silica support is characterised by that support is subjected to heat treatment at temperature from 400 to 800 °C in combination with treatment with a Lewis acid, using a boron compound, in which weight fraction of boron with respect to support is 0.5–0.7 %. Method of producing highly active catalyst for polymerising olefin includes following steps: (a) heat treatment of silica at temperature from 400 to 800 °C in an inert atmosphere; (b) treatment of silica obtained at step (a) with a Lewis acid, using a boron compound to obtain a boron-containing silica support; and (c) obtaining a catalyst on a silica support, obtained at step (b).
EFFECT: obtained catalyst has high activity and a narrow size distribution, which also prevents dusting.
