FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and apparatus for processing radar signals in radar stations and can be used for measuring the speed of an aerial object. Method involves parallel reception and processing of signals reflected from an aerial object in three receiving channels – total, vertical differential and horizontal differential in each of which radar signal is amplified, coherently detected, range strobed, then one range channel with the same number as the range channel in all three receiving channels is selected, signal spectrum for the dedicated range channel is calculated in each receiving channel, vertical or horizontal differential channel for receiving a radar signal is selected as a measuring channel based on the measurements of the average values of amplitudes of the signal spectrum at their outlets, difference between these amplitudes and antenna rotation around the axis of radiation with emitting of a probing radar signal are calculated until the difference of average values of amplitudes of signal spectrums reaches the maximum value; using the mono-pulse method the angle of the signal arrival into the plane corresponding to the selected differential channel is calculated, for each spectral count from the output of the selected difference channel and total channel using linear regression analysis values of radial and tangential velocity components of the flight of an areal object in the plane of the corresponding selected differential channel is calculated. Radar station to implement the propose method comprises a transmitter, three receiving channels – total and two differential channels in horizontal and vertical plane each including an amplifier, coherent detector, range strobing device, analogue-to-digital converter, signal spectrum computer mono-pulse antenna feeder system circulator, two devices to measure the average amplitudes of signal spectrum, subtractor, analyzer of amplitude difference, switch, computer and antenna control unit connected to each other in a certain manner.
