SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means of setting up a network device for forwarding packets. Device includes a plurality of network ports, including a first input port, a first output port, a second input port and a second output port, wherein at least one of network ports is connected to a controller via a data network. Device is configured to connect first output port to second input port so that packets forwarded to first output port, respectively, are transmitted to second input port. Method includes receiving, from controller via a data network, instructions for a first forwarding rule for initiating forwarding to first output port packets received via first input port and having a first feature. First forwarding rule is stored in memory. Method includes receiving, from controller via a data network, instructions for a second forwarding rule for initiating forwarding to second output port packets received via second input port and having a first feature. Second forwarding rule is stored in memory.

EFFECT: technical result consists in using verification of several features of packet.
