FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vinylidene chloride (VDC) polymers. Method for blending solid additive particles with solid VDC polymer particles, wherein method comprises following steps: A) polymerising VDC monomer, optionally with one or more mono-ethylenically unsaturated comonomers, in a polymerisation zone under polymerisation conditions to form solid VDC polymer particles; B) stopping the polymerisation of VDC monomers after formation of solid VDC polymer particles; and C) contacting solid VDC polymer particles with solid additive particles (I) before solid VDC polymer particles are de-watered, (II) during and/or after removal of residual monomer from solid VDC polymer particles and (III) at a temperature sufficient to melt or soften solid additive particles, but insufficient to melt or soften solid VDC polymer particles such that melted or softened solid additive particles adhere to solid VDC polymer particles upon contact.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method incorporating additives into vinylidene chloride polymers without use of a blender.
