FIELD: polymerization processes. SUBSTANCE: vinylidene chloride or vinyl chloride polymers or copolymers are prepared by suspension polymerization of vinylidene chloride or vinyl chloride or their copolymerization with other monomers by way of (i) preparing polymerization-capable monomer mixture having aqueous phase containing suspending agent and monomer phase containing at least one suspension polymerization-capable monomer; (ii) polymerizing polymerization-capable monomer mixture to give aqueous suspension of polymer and residual monomer; and (iii) removing residual monomer and drying remaining polymer. Method is distinguished by that, prior to removal of residual monomer, at least one inorganic acid salt with anion valence at least 2 is added to polymer suspension.
