MANAGEMENT OF ELECTRICAL AIR INTAKE HEATER OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE Russian patent published in 2017 - IPC F02D41/06 F02M31/13 F02N19/06

Abstract RU 2610443 C2

FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the management of electric air intake heater of the internal combustion engine. This technical result is achieved by the fact that the thermal energy (Q) in an electric air intake heater (1) is balanced to take measures against overheating in such a way that heat energy is determined indirectly by measuring the time (24) of heating, and the measured time (24) of heating corresponds to the heating temperature and the heating time (24) is associated with the heat energy and heating temperature, accordingly a certain parametric characteristics of the heating surface. During the subsequent cooling time indirectly by measuring the cooling time (29 to 30) the energy of the cooling given to the environment is determined, and the association of the cooling time with cooling energy and the cooling temperature is carried out according to certain characteristics of the cooling or parametric surface cooling, and cooling power is subtracted of heating energy. The remaining difference between the corresponding residual heat energy (Qs) is used as a criterion, for example whether after the measured cooling time immediately re-heating process without overheating or determining additional cooling time as additional time (32 to 33) for further cooling to uncritical values for the new start of heating period or the current preheating period may be shortened by the still present residual heat.

EFFECT: invention provides control of the electric air intake heater in an internal combustion engine in such a way that the risk of overheating due to re-start the heating process is eliminated.
