FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to zinc hydrometallurgy and can be used for purification of zinc sulphate electrolytes from chloride ion, which is a harmful impurity in zinc production. The method involves extraction of chloride ions from zinc sulphate solutions with a mixture of trialkylphosphine oxides with fraction C6-FROM8 with di (2,4,4-trimethylpentyl) phosphinic acid. Chloride re-extraction is carried out till the final aqueous phase pH 6.5-8.0 is reached, using alkaline solutions. Extractant regeneration is accomplished by treating of the organic phase with solutions of sulfuric acid with concentration of 0.5-1.0 mole/l.
EFFECT: simplified chloride ion re-extraction stage with alkaline solutions and prevention of sediments and nonsegregating emulsions formation at the re-extraction stage is provided.
