SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. Disclosed is communication downlink mode selection method for UE. Method is implemented in radio network controller, RNC, and comprises stages of: evaluating geometry for UE; mode selection for UE based on estimated geometry, wherein mode represents either plurality of cells switching mode, or plurality of cells aggregation mode; and configuration of selected mode for UE. When using UE geometry for mode selection selected is most suitable mode relative to functional characteristics, such as channel capacity. Invention also discloses corresponding methods for RBS, UE, as well as corresponding RNC, RBS and UE.
EFFECT: technical result consists in how to determine optimal mode for given UE, and how to configure UE for selected mode.
