SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to methods for detecting air cavities in gypsum-based building slabs and to methods for manufacturing gypsum-based building slabs. The method comprises forming a gypsum-based slab with a preset shape. the surface of the gypsum-based building slab is cooled; it has been generated heat as a result of the reaction of calcined gypsum hydration, by flowing the cooling medium onto the surface. The temperature distribution on the surface of the gypsum-based building slab is detected after the named cooling. The temperature distribution pattern is formed, this temperature distribution has been obtained as a result of the named detection. The air cavity exceeding or equal to the specified size contained in the gypsum-based building slab is automatically detected by image processing using the temperature distribution pattern of the gypsum-based building slab surface obtained in the named pattern formation. The part of the gypsum-based building slab is identified which comprises an air cavity as defective one, and the part is automatically marked and discarded from the process system.
EFFECT: improvement of efficiency of identification of air cavities.
