FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gypsum panels with reduced weight and density with improved heat-insulating properties, resistance to thermal shrinkage and fire-resistance. Gypsum middle layer for panel, suitable for arrangement between facing sheets of panel, comprises crystalline matrix of hardened gypsum and particles with high coefficient of volumetric expansion, which is approximately 300 % or more relative to their initial volume after heating for approximately one hour at a temperature of approximately 1560 °F (approximately 850 °C); wherein particles with a high coefficient of volumetric expansion are contained in the gypsum middle layer in an amount and distribution effective to provide average high-temperature shrinkage (S) in the XY direction of about 10 % or less; wherein the gypsum middle layer when positioned between the facing sheets is effective to provide a panel characterized by density (D), making approximately 40 pounds per cubic foot (640 kg/m3) or less, and hardness of at least about 11 pounds (about 5 kg). Invention is developed in dependent items of the formula.
EFFECT: technical result is obtaining a gypsum panel with reduced weight and density, having fire-resistant properties.
