FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: method is to create an acoustic wave at the liquid level in the well and to measure the travel time of the wave in the downhole space. Herein an acoustic wave is created in gas and liquid media and the chronological arrival time of the acoustic wave through the gas medium from the liquid level to the receiver at the wellhead - tgas and the chronological arrival time of the second acoustic wave from the liquid level to the receiver in the area of downhole pump unit - tfluid are registered, the information on these chronological times is transferred to the well control station, and the liquid level is determined by a mathematical formula.
EFFECT: creation of a method for fluid level determination in a constant mode without the use of an electromagnetic wave as a signal triggering the timing start.
