FIELD: gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to operating water wells using downhole pumping equipment and can be used in the oil industry and in other industries. The method of determining the level of liquid in a water well is based on the difference in the thermal conductivity of the gas medium and the liquid in the well and the different behavior of the electric current conductor in these different environments. Any conductor heats up in a gaseous and liquid medium in different ways, as a result of which its resistance and current strength in the electrical circuit change in different ways. Taking this into account, an electrically conductive single-core cable in a non-conductive sheath with a heat-conductive capacity, folded in two in a U-shape, is placed on a stationary basis in the well from the wellhead to a deep pump or productive formation. The cable is connected through a resistor (electrical resistance) and an ammeter to a series electrical circuit. The well allows determining a calibration dependence of the current in the electric circuit on the level of the gas and liquid media separation. The level of liquid in the well is determined remotely at the required frequency using calibration dependence, connecting an electrical circuit to a voltage source and taking an ammeter reading after a fixed time period.
EFFECT: invention determines the level of liquid in a water intake well.
