SUBSTANCE: modular tool comprises a body and, at least, one main drive with the deformation moulding surface located on one of its ends, wherein the other body end is adapted to mount the tool to the machine tool. The body is adapted to provide appropriate basing of the main drives adjusting their rotation against each other and transfer of the torque thereto. The deformation moulding drive surface is obtained by moving the moulding profile similar to the treated thread profile, on the guide as a plane closed curve formed by the intersection of the original cylindrical surface and the plane, which is inclined thereto at the angle of where a - the specified width of the moulding profile top, b - the specified width of the formed thread trench, with the proviso that a<b.

EFFECT: invention use improves the strength and durability of the treated thread surface adapted to control the hardening degree, the hardened layer depth and the roughness of the thread surface.
