FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention concerns a method for determination of the total content of metal ions (Fe, Cd, Co, Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu, Mn). The method comprises preparation of a total metal (Fe, Cd, Co, Zn, Pb, Ni, Cu, Mn) solution with equal amounts of all metals, metal extraction by a membrane with immobilized reactant, its subsequent separation from the solution, analytical signal measurement and evaluation of the total metal content. A polymethacrylate matrix with immobilized 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) and 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol (PAR) is used as the membrane, light absorption at (525±15) nm, colour coordinates, or visual assessment of optical membrane staining intensity are used as the analytical signal, the total metal content is assessed based on a calibration curve or by the visually-testing method.
EFFECT: method application can significantly reduce the detection limit for the total content of metal ions.
