FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises reacting the reagent immobilized in the optical polymethacrylate membrane with the analyte, then separating it from the solution and evaluating the amount of antioxidant activity. The copper (II) indicator system, neocuproin immobilized in a polymethacrylate matrix, is used as a reagent, the analytical signal is represented as a light absorption at 450 nm, or a visual estimate of the intensity of the colour of the optical membrane; a quantitative and/or qualitative assessment of the integral antioxidant activity is carried out according to a calibration schedule and/or a colour scale constructed for ascorbic acid used as a standard substance.
