FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: continuous monitoring of the daily values of intraocular pressure (IOP) is performed. The rate of IOP increase and reduction during the day is calculated by the formulas:
,
where V↑ is the IOP increase rate (mmHg/min), V↓ is IOP reduction rate (mmHg/min), IOP max is the maximum IOP level in mmHg, IOP (max-2) is the IOP level 2 hours before the maximum IOP in mmHg. IOP (max+2) is the IOP level 2 hours after the maximum IOP in mmHg, T max is the time of day when the IOP has the maximum value in hours and minutes, T (max-2) is the time of day 2 hours before the maximum IOP in hours and minutes (120 minutes) T (max+2) is the time of day 2 hours after maximum IOP in hours and minutes (120 minutes). If the IOP level increase rate is equal to or higher than the IOP level reduction rate, prescription for surgical treatment is indicated.
EFFECT: ability to select optimal indications for surgical treatment of patients with primary open angle glaucoma.
