FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method for detecting the straight line in the image, used in the electronic device, is provided. The method contains a stage, at which a set of the gradient histogram features of each corresponding pixel point in the image is received, wherein the set of the gradient histogram features is adapted to reflect the straight line characteristics of the local region, in which the pixel point is located. Further, according to the method, at least, one possible embodiment of the straight line direction is determined, which is to be detected according to the set of the gradient histogram features of the corresponding pixel points. At least, one scan line is formed for each of the defined, at least, one possible direction embodiment parallel to the possible embodiment direction.

EFFECT: improved accuracy of the straight line detection due to the definition of the possible straight lineembodiment direction, taking into account the calculation of the matching distance reflecting the closeness degree.
