FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: multilayer digital linear tomography is performed to obtain the images in direct and lateral projections. In the picture, obtained in a direct projection, the maximum width of the chest image S is measured in the area of basal parts with full capture of both lung fields, where S represents the tomographic scanning area width. Then, height h of the scanning middle above the table is determined, which is equal to 0.5S. The resulting values S and h are set on the working console of tomosynthesis device and a picture is made in lateral projection.

EFFECT: increased diagnostic information content of tomosynthesis considering the individual characteristics of each patient's body, in particular in case of hyperstenic physique, excessive body weight, expressed scoliosis.
