FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method includes reaction of methylphosphonic acid dichloride with isobutyl alcohol in mole ratios (methylphosphonic acid dichloride:isobutyl alcohol) = 1: (1.1-1.9) without a hydrogen chloride acceptor medium in chloroform at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, followed by the resulting aqueous mixture hydrolysis; chloroform layer processing under interphase catalysis with potassium hydroxide; separation of the chloroform solution containing O,O'-diisobutyl methyl phosphonate; aqueous salt layer treatment with concentrated hydrochloric acid, and O-isobutyl methyl phosphonate extraction therefrom, using chloroform; product purification by vacuum fractionation of residues after solvent stripping from the appropriate chloroform solutions.
EFFECT: new safe method to obtain a high yield of O-isobutyl methyl phosphonate and O,O'-diisobutyl methyl phosphonate suitable for the manufacture of standard samples used for metrological control and supervision during destruction of chemical weapons stockpiles.
