FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: optical system, designed to produce 3D images, has two projection subsystems. Each of the subsystems includes a source image to be formed, a relay element, a projection lens. The relay element is adapted to form an intermediate image near the focal point of the projection lens entrance surface, and the back focal length is defined by the distance between the focal point of the intermediate image and the input surface of the projection lens.

EFFECT: provision of more compact projection lens, smaller projection relations, higher image contrast.
