FIELD: mining.
SUBSTANCE: squeezing elements are introduced into the respective pockets to hold cutters. The squeezing elements are geated using plasma arc method to recover the oxide layer on the surface along the perimeter of the squeezing element. The carbide material is applied using plasma arc method on the rib section between the adjacent pockets of at least one blade providing for alloying material flowing along the perimeter of the squeezing element and metallurgical junction formation between blade base metal and the said alloying material. Polycrystalline diamond cutters are secured in the respective pockets, for example, as by soldering.
EFFECT: method provides for forming a cutter pocket with precise dimensions and low probability of unlocking and losing the cuter during bit operation, while the soldered cutter is highly resistant to erosion.
