FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: block carrier comprises the first coating of a porous oxide, the second coating of a porous oxide, and the block carrier. The first coating of a porous oxide contains a catalyst composition comprising a platinum group metal and a substrate material, wherein the platinum group metal in the first coating of a porous oxide contains platinum, which tends to evaporate when the first layer of a porous oxide is subjected to relatively extreme conditions, including relatively high temperatures of ≥700°C. The second coating of a porous oxide contains the metal oxide to capture the evaporated platinum group metal, and the catalyst composition comprising a metal selected from the group consisting of palladium, silver, gold, and combinations of any two or more thereof, wherein the metal oxide bears a metal, and said second coating of a porous oxide is oriented for contacting the exhaust gas which has already been in contact with the first coating of a porous oxide.
EFFECT: reducing or preventing the platinum group metal movement to the catalyst located downstream, efficient cleaning of exhaust gases.
