FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: exhaust system (10) for automotive internal combustion engine operating at lean mixtures, comprises: (a) the first monolithic substrate (6) containing an SCR catalyst; (b) at least one second monolithic substrate (4) containing a catalytic primer coating comprising at least one platinum group metal (PGM), located upstream of the first monolith substrate; and (c) the third monolithic substrate (2) located between the first monolithic substrate and (each) second monolithic substrate. At that, at least one PGM on (each) second monolithic substrate (4) is subjected to evaporation when (each) second monolithic substrate (4) is under relatively stringent conditions, including relatively high temperatures, wherein the third monolithic substrate (2) includes a primer containing at least one material to trap the vaporized PGM.
EFFECT: invention application prevents SCR catalyst contamination.
